Our restaurant is casual seafood in a warm New England setting. Dine in or take out. Or prepare your own meal at home with seafood from our market. Twenty years ago, Al Courchene purchased a small seafood market and take-out stand and began delighting seafood lovers with high quality seafood at attractive prices. As the clientele grew, so did the premises. Outdoor picnic areas were outgrown and the new indoor dining area was added in 2004. Since that time Al’s Seafood has become not just a summertime destination but a year-round favorite.

Blue Ocean Discovery Center is a non-profit that protects marine life in the Gulf of Maine through research, education and inspiring action. Our vision is of thriving marine life in the Gulf of Maine with citizens committed to environmental stewardship. We’ve operated educational exhibits and marine life touch tanks in both Portsmouth and Salisbury Beach over the years, but our touch tanks have now hopefully found a permanent home in Hampton Beach. In June 2013, we opened the Blue Ocean Discovery Center, which is located just north of the Sea Shell stage. There, we educate thousands of visitors about marine life and the importance of protecting the ocean and keeping our beaches clean.

Rye Airfield is New England’s premiere indoor skatepark. Our indoor skate park was originally designed and built by Jack Murphy Productions (designers of The Gravity Games, Vans Skateparks and the Dew Tour) with the consultation of former Pro Skater, Dave Duncan. Over the past seven years we have remodeled a handful of times but the most recent was a massive overhaul of nearly 20,000 square feet with the design and construction coming from Brad Jameson and John Saxton of Skidmark Skateparks. Our year round indoor facility has 50,000 square feet and features everything you’ve dreamed about riding or skating all under one roof.

“Breathe soft, ye winds, Ye waves in silence rest.” Under former Governor Hugh Gregg, the commission chose the plot of ground at Hampton Beach across from the Ashworth Hotel to locate the memorial. Various designs for the Memorial were submitted and finally a design by Alice E. Cosgrove [1909-1971], a talented artist from Concord NH, was chosen. Her design was accepted unanimously after the commission members had viewed the other entries. She made a scale model which was used by a Cambridge, Massachusetts sculptor, Teodors Uzarins, to model a life-size statue in clay at the Caproni Galleries in Boston. Uzarins, working closely with Alice produced the sensitive face and feeling now immortalized in NH granite which you see today. The monument, Lady of the Sea, was completed and dedicated on Memorial Day, May 30, 1957.
